ok so like first off let me just say most study tips online are total bs, like “drink water stay organized” yeah thanks for that lol, i tried it didnt help me at all i just ended up scrolling tiktok for hours instead, i swear my brain was full of memes instead of formulas, but i guess that counts as something? anyway what actually works i learned the hard way over like exams and cramming nights and crying over econ homework
first tip i swear by is don’t try to learn everything at once. like i once tried to memorize 50 words overnight. 50. by morning i forgot my own name ok maybe slight exaggeration but barely remembered half. little chunks, tiny pieces, 5 words, 1 concept at a time. your brain likes bite sized stuff not whole cake shoved in at once. there’s this thing called spaced repetition or whatever scientists say, basically like your brain likes tiny repeated doses not giant dumps. trust me.
another thing that helped me a lot was relating stuff to real life. dont just read about physics, throw a ball, drop your pen, whatever, see it in action. i hated econ until i realized supply and demand explains why those stupid sneakers i wanted doubled in price overnight, suddenly charts made sense. real life examples = magic.
about environment, everyone online is like omg you need perfect study rooms, plants, candles, jazz etc. lol i study best in messy corners with headphones blasting, sometimes at cafes where people spill coffee everywhere and argue over laptops. chaos is ok, focus is what matters, not pinterest aesthetic.
also active recall is amazing but dont just silently read notes like a zombie, talk out loud, explain to your dog, cousin, imaginary alien, whatever. forces brain to organize stuff better than staring blankly.
social media can help if used smart. there’s reddit, tiktok, insta communities sharing hacks, tips, shortcuts. dont get sucked into 2 hour “study with me” vids tho, thats a trap. i once color coded flashcards like green = easy, red = panic and it actually worked. my friends laughed. but it worked.
sleep. dont skip it. i know everyone does it thinking theyre smart pulling all nighters. nope. brain stores memory while sleeping, even short naps help. 20 mins can help you remember stuff better. science says. i say try it.
mixing subjects helps too. study same subject for hours and your brain goes dead. switch subjects, switch problem types. like interval training for your brain. tiring but works.
small rewards help. finish a chapter? snack. finish problem set? scroll tiktok 10 mins guilt free. brain likes dopamine, proven.
and dont be afraid of mistakes. forgetting formulas or dates doesnt mean youre dumb. every mistake teaches you something, like oh yeah i really do need to study that one stupid chapter, or omg maybe i should start earlier next time. accepting mistakes makes life easier.
in the end figure out what works for you, i do little bursts, some sleep, mix it up, laugh at mistakes. its not about perfect studying, its about actually remembering stuff when you need it.
